Exhibition elements for Crafted by Place by Omar Gandhi Architects

For the Canadian architectural firm Omar Gandhi Architects we produced, processed, and installed various components of an exhibition in Berlin. The work was carried out in close coordination with the architectural team, whose precise technical drawings and visualizations provided a flawless foundation for our work.

Task:

  1. Production and preparation of the exhibition elements
    • Milling of MDF panels, including keyhole drilling and rear-side slot milling for concealed mounting.
    • Printing and lamination of our “RockMount” film
    • Applying the foils to the milled MDF panels

  2. On-site installation of the exhibition
    • Installation of a large-format wall film measuring 5 × 4 meters
      • Printed on five separate strips
      • Finished with matte laminate
    • Production and application of plotter-cut vinyl graphics for typography and lettering
      • Additionally, a small QR code has been printed on transparent film.
    • Installation of the prepared MDF panels onto wooden elements with precise alignment.

  3. Communication and coordination
    • Direct consultation with Omar Gandhi Architects to coordinate technical details.
    • Fine-tuning of print data, materials, and mounting techniques
    • Organization and management of the entire production and assembly process

Material:

The following materials were primarily used in this project:

  • MDF boards, milled and processed on the reverse side
  • High-quality print films with protective laminate
  • Plotter films for lettering and accents
  • Mounting materials (wood screws, hangers)

Execution:

Our installation team executed all the work precisely and efficiently within just a few hours. Thanks to meticulous preparatory work, the elements could be quickly assembled on-site. The MDF panels were screwed onto pre-prepared wooden components, meaning they simply had to be hooked into place later. Both the large-format wall graphic and the graphic elements integrated seamlessly into the exhibition's overall concept. The result is a high-quality presentation with a clean architectural aesthetic that perfectly underscores the design ethos of Omar Gandhi Architects.

In addition to Omar Gandhi Architects, Atelier EMBLOSS was responsible for the botanical set design, and Spearhead for the fabrication and assembly of the timber structures.

Wall Print - Direct

We don’t print for the wall. We print on it.

Our wall printer applies images, illustrations, and messages directly onto virtually any flat wall surface—delivering razor-sharp, durable, and instantly dry results thanks to direct UV printing. No vinyl. No wallpaper. No limits.

This allows even large-format designs to be realized without visible film edges, wallpaper seams, or additional backing materials. Printing is possible on a wide range of flat surfaces, such as plaster, concrete, wood, glass, or metal. Whether for subtle office branding, room-filling illustrations, wayfinding systems, exhibition graphics, or unique wall designs, wall printing combines creative freedom with modern printing technology.

We precisely align the wall printer on-site and execute the design directly onto the desired surface.
We print images, illustrations, and messages directly onto the wall. UV direct printing works on a wide range of surfaces—such as plaster, concrete, wood, glass, or metal—opening up entirely new possibilities for branding, exhibitions, and custom wall design.
