Goooooooal in Berlin: Campaign production for six BVG stops
For a special BVG project, commissioned by Werkstatt für Alles, we had the opportunity to produce various lettering designs for six Berlin transit stops. The focus was on stations that share one thing in common: the word "Tor" (gate) in their names.
As part of the campaign, for instance, the Brandenburg Gate became the "Brandenburg Gooooooooooooooooooooooooal." This playful motif was applied to several Berlin transit stops, with each execution tailored to the station's existing design.
Our task was the technical production of custom lettering on various materials. The client provided the designs and material specifications. We handled the production, prepared the finished elements, and delivered them to "Werkstatt für Alles." The installation was subsequently carried out by the "Werkstatt für Alles" team.
The process was also accompanied by RYSM. A two-person team visited our premises to document the production through photos and videos. In addition, we captured our own images during production to showcase the workflow and the finished results on our website.

Material:
The following materials were primarily used in this project:
- Printed self-adhesive film
- Protective laminate
- Plotting film
- Aluminum composite panels
- Forex boards
- Banner or tarpaulin material
Different materials were used depending on the specific application. Sheet materials such as aluminum composite and Forex were employed for stable, rigid elements, while banners were used for flexible applications. The laminated aluminum composite panels were also given a protective laminate to make the surface more durable for use in public spaces.
Execution:
The project began with a request from "Werkstatt für Alles." We worked together to clarify the requirements and the subsequent installation process. Since the installation was to be carried out by the "Werkstatt für Alles" team rather than by us, our focus was on precision manufacturing and the clean, organized delivery of the finished components.
The client provided the designs and specified the desired materials. Our task was to transform the supplied design concepts into high-quality print and signage products. This process involved not only the actual printing but also appropriate material processing, lamination, and preparation of the elements for subsequent installation.
Custom lettering was produced for a total of six Berlin stops:
- Brandenburg Gate — U5
- Oranienburger Tor — U6
- Schlesisches Tor — U1, U3
- Kottbusser Tor — U1, U3, U8
- Frankfurter Tor — U5
- Hallesches Tor — U1, U3, U6
A particular challenge lay in the fact that there were six different locations. Each stop has its own distinct appearance and, consequently, its own unique design context. Although we did not create the designs ourselves, the production process required us to execute them in such a way that the finished lettering appeared clean and high-quality, while also harmonizing with each specific location.
Depending on the application, the lettering was produced on self-adhesive film, banners, Forex boards, or aluminum composite panels. Some of the prints were laminated. For the film applied to the aluminum composite panels, a protective laminate was also used; this made the surfaces more durable and better suited to the demands of public spaces.
We also photographically documented the process ourselves during production. In addition, the project was covered by RYSM; a two-person photo and video team visited our facility to record the production process. RYSM also documented the entire workflow, right through to the installation. This resulted in an extensive collection of images and video footage that not only showcases the campaign at the finished site but also reveals the production process behind it.
Once production was complete, the finished elements were delivered to the "Werkstatt für Alles." The installation was then carried out overnight by the Werkstatt für Alles team. In this way, the gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaates were positioned at the six Berlin stops, becoming part of a high-impact public space campaign.
For us, this project was a great example of how signage technology, large-format printing, and campaign production dovetail. Supplied designs were transformed into tangible elements for public spaces—printed, mounted, finished, and delivered ready for installation.
