Project:
Special exhibition "The Cold Gaze" at the Topography of Terror
Tasks:
Production and delivery of exhibition graphics
Material:
Honeycomb cardboard panels with edge trim, digital prints on self-adhesive vinyl with protective laminate, photographs on Bristol board
Execution:
For the special exhibition "The Cold Gaze" at the Topography of Terror in Berlin, we were responsible for the entire graphic production. The exhibition depicts the attempt by two Viennese scientists during World War II to "research typical East Jews," as well as the lives of Jewish families in the German-occupied Polish city of Tarnów. All exhibition structures are made of steel and wood frames, for which we printed B1-certified honeycomb cardboard panels using UV direct printing and then applied a color-matching edge trim. This trim is as wide as the panel and covers or seals the open edge, which is typical of honeycomb cardboard.
In addition to contour-cut headlines and podium graphics, which we printed using the latex process, the most elaborate production for the exhibition was the mounting of 2,260 photographs of the 565 murdered Jews. The photographs were printed on 1mm thick Bristol board in passport photo size, contour cut, and meticulously arranged symmetrically on black MDF panels.
